SCHOOL CHECKLIST.
Rubicon will provide fit for purpose skateboards, scooters, helmets, knee pads and elbow pads for all pupils. By signing below the school accepts that Skateboard and Scooter Activities come with the risk of injury.
Participation Statement: “Skateboard and Scooter activities have a danger of personal injury. Participants, (and parents if participants are under 16,) in these activities should be made aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.”
All Rubicon staff have Enhanced DBS checks which they will bring with them on the day, along with their ID. If you would like to see their DBS in advance or require a Letter of Assurance, please just let us know.
Your instructor can take a maximum of 36 pupils per session. We will have helmets, knee and elbow pads for all the pupils to wear, and pupils will share skateboards or scooters in teams of 2 or 3 as they learn together.
If any children in any classes have additional needs - whether physical or learning - we must be informed in advance, to not only ensure the sessions remain suitable and safe for them.
Please have an inside space reserved in in the event of bad weather. We would prefer to be outside on a fairly smooth hard surface area. However if it is wet we can work indoors in a hall or gym. If this area is also used for lunch, we should be able to adapt the time table enough to make sure your catering team have time to set up, and clear away.
Your instructor will arrive 30 minutes before the first lesson is due to start. This is so they can sign in and get all the equipment to their allocated area. If parking can be reserved for them as close to the playground as possible, that is helpful. Please ensure your first class of children are ready to begin at the allocated time.
Sessions should be a minimum of 40 minutes long. This is because it takes time to get the protective equipment on and off, and we of course want to maximise the time spent being active and learning the skills we intend to cover.
As the sports we are providing are more challenging and with more risk, it is crucial that pupils follow the instructions given. Should instructions not be followed, pupils will be asked to sit out - not just for their own safety but the safety of others.
